I completely disagree with those saying it’s not a good tutorial. I think this is excellent.

I’ve dabbled with cube solving on and off for the past decade, and none of the others have been able to get me anywhere near to being able to solve a Rubik’s cube. Tom has done what I thought was impossible, and I’ve now learnt it.

It’s taken me about a week of steady practice. Having the video broken up into chapters made it easy for me to navigate back and forth until I understood what I needed to do.

One tip. I wrote the algorithms down on my phone in the notes so I could refer to them easily when I got a bit lost. The writing process actually helped embed the algorithms in my memory, so was far more useful than just being given a pdf with everything already on it.

What I like about this video is Tom’s approach to cube solving. It doesn’t feel daunting at all. I felt I was guided just enough.

Does it teach anything else other than how to solve a cube? No.

Does that matter? No.

In fact, if I’m given other stuff I will just rush ahead and try and learn everything. Which in turn becomes overwhelming. But this is just one lesson spread over about an hour focusing on the one thing. Solving a cube.

If you can already solve a cube, this isn’t for you.

If you can’t solve a cube, this might be for you. It was certainly the right tutorial for me.

Top marks Tom Crosbie. I’d really quite like a few more videos like this teaching more advanced stuff. Not necessarily magic tricks with cubes. They’re lovely, but that’s not for me. However, ways of speeding up the solve, new algorithms to help do that, and other such stuff would be awesome.

I highly recommend this video.

Solving the cube is easier than I thought

Let's say this is a reluctant five-star review. If you have never solved a Rubik's cube, this is a good tutorial and worth the money. If you are familiar with the terms "Daisy" and "White Cross," you may want to reconsider, as there is nothing new or revolutionary here. I do not know the official name for this solving method, but I would call it the official one. It is shown in numerous books and YouTube videos. Tom Crosbie does explain why the algorithms work, so solving becomes a combination of thinking through the moves to help learn the algorithms. If you are new to the cube, you will have to watch and rewind the video many times to learn how to solve it. As explained in the description, there is no magic here. This is a step-by-step guide on how to solve a Rubik's Cube. The video would have been much improved if it came with a PDF file listing the solving algorithms and the steps to use them.

Disappointed nothing new and no pdf either. There are people who think they are teachers, then there are real teachers. You tube have so much better tutorials than this guys tutorial and you tube is free. That's why I'm disappointed with this one.

The Presenter talks way too fast and does not keep the cube in the same orientation. This makes it hard to follow the moves. I would suggest placing the cube on a table with the 'Up' face always up and start from there. Also, please stop saying 'it's easy' over and over again. It is not easy.

If you have any stress, problems, anxieties n your life this is certainly not for you because it will only exacerbate any issues you may have. This is without a doubt the most nonsensical video of how to solve a cube. It is difficult to follow although the presenter sure knows what he is doing. If anyone can determine how to place this video in the drawer of tricks that will never be used, please let me know. There are so many other videos available that are simple to follow and solve a cube.

This is fine download, but I think it's worth mentioning what it's not. And that's a revolutionary or new approach to solving a cube. Or a cube solving shortcut. Tom Crosbie himself mentions in the introduction that this is the standard method of solving a Rubik's cube that the Rubik's company recommends you learn first. He also mentions that it is not the easiest method to learn, but that it is again the standard beginners method. So while Crosbie may be able to solve a cube in a flash as he does in the trailer, using the method taught on this download will take you a few minutes and involve repeating several long algorithms. One assumes that Crosbie knows a number of shortcuts for different situations that allow him to solve the cube so quickly, but those are not taught on this download, presumably because those are advanced methods. Aside from that, the method that is taught is clear and relatively easy to understand, assuming you have the patience to practice and memorize algorithms.
